Schlesinger named in GB judo squad
Israeli-born judo star Alice Schlesinger has been named in GB’s squad for the forthcoming International Judo Federation World Championships.
The 27-year-old will be competing in the U63kg event during the tournament, which being held in Astana, Kazakhstan, takes place between 24-29 August. Born in Herzliya, she switched allegiance to GB in 2014, as a result of a dispute she had with Israeli Judo officials, and gained British citizenship through her English-born mother. She has previously won bronze for Israel at the World Championships in 2009, and also won three bronze medals at European Championships.
