Second Oxford Labour student officer resigns citing society’s ‘radical ideology’
A second officer at Oxford University’s Labour Club has walked out citing the society’s “radical ideology” in a move that reignites an anti-Semitism debate following its endorsement of Israel Apartheid Week.
Brahma Mohanty, the disabilities officer at the OULC, sent her resignation letter to The Telegraph, which reported that she said recent motions had “purged” the OULC membership and “forced members to subscribe to a radical ideology of division and isolation”.
She added: “I cannot in good faith carry out my duties in promoting access and engagement with a club that I feel is projecting itself in the complete opposite manner.”
In stepping down, she follows former the non-Jewish co-chair Alex Chalmers, who resigned last month saying the club had “some kind of problem with Jews,” allegations which sparked a Labour Party investigation.
