‘Seder in a box’ offered to help celebrate Passover under lockdown
United Synagogue is sending out packages containing a three-course meal to help the community observe Pesach
The United Synagogue is offering those in need a ‘seder in a box’ to help mark the festival at home.
The package contains a three-course meal, disposable cutlery and crockery, as-well-as educational material, and a seder plate placemat.
Included in the meal, provided by top caterer 1070 Kitchen under the supervision of KLBD, is soup, chicken, potatoes, vegetables, dessert, grape juice and matza and more, with vegetarian and vegan options also available.
Those in need can purchase it online through the United Synagogue website with free delivery inside the M25. It costs £40 for one person, £65 for two and £120 for a family of four. US members can also donate seder boxes to others. You can buy it here until 18 March: theus.org.uk/sederinabox
Jo Rose, Director of Operations of the United Synagogue’s Living & Learning Department, said: “Although lockdown is easing, we know many of our members are still shielding or will be separated from their friends and family. To enhance our seder nights we are delighted to provide ‘Seder in a Box’ again this year with wonderful materials and delicious food. We know it will be warmly welcomed by families and those living on their own, and following the success of its launch last year we are thrilled to have been able to bring it back.”
This comes after more than £440,000 was raised in an emergency Pesach appeal, by the United Synagogue’s Chesed department.
