Sela secures Slovenian Davis Cup tie win
Israel are back in the World Group play-off’s after they Dudi Sela wrapped up a 3-1 win on Sunday afternoon.
Going into the final day of action tied at 1-1, and with three rubbers still to play, Israel took a 2-1 lead in the day’s first match – the doubles rubber.
Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram took on Blaz Rola and Grega Zemlja, and won the match 7-6, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3.
Giving the Israelis some breathing space, Sela, who had lost his opening singles rubber on Friday, took on Zemlja, and made up for his straight set defeat, taking the rubber 6-2, 6-7, 6-0, 6-2, to seal Israel’s win.
Amir Weintraub was due to take on Rola in the fifth and final match of the day, though it is now a dead rubber.
