Sela shines down under to set up Nadal clash
Dudi Sela turned in a scintillating performance early on Wednesday morning as he beat the world number 28 seed Lukas Rosol to set up a mouthwatering clash against Rafael Nadal on Friday.
The Israeli beat the Czech player in their second round clash 7-6, 5-7, 7-5, 6-3, his reward being a likely clash with the world number three seed. Sela had lost in the first round of his previous five appearances in Melbourne, and hadn’t made it past the second round of a Grand Slam tournament since Wimbledon in 2009.
Earlier in the day, Jonathan Erlich advanced to the second round of the men’s doubles competition when he and Treat Huey from the Phillipines, beat Serbian Dusan Lajovic and Chinese Taipei’s Yen-Hsun Lu 6-3, 6-7, 6-3.
