Sela’s not happy as he misses out on 20th title
Dudi Sela’s failed to win his 20th ATP Challenger tour title at the weekend after he was beaten in straight sets in the final of the Happy Valley tournament in Australia.
Using the tournament as preparation for next week’s Australian Open, the 30-year-old was beaten 7-6, 6-2 by American teenager Taylor Fritz.
Despite the loss, Sela is set to climb to 87 in the men’s rankings, and ahead of the first Grand Slam of the year, will this week compete at the Canberra Open.
Sela is the only Israeli guaranteed a place in the main draw of the singles competition, with Julia Glushko, Shahar Peer and Amir Weintraub all taking part in qualifiers this week.
