Sephardi community welcomes faith minister to Bevis Marks
Lourne Bourne stepped inside Britain's oldest synagogue as part of his 'faith tour' around the country
Britain’s Sephardi community has welcomed a Government minister to Bevis Marks, Britain’s oldest synagogue, as part of a “faith tour”.
Minister of Faith Lord Bourne stepped inside the historic shul accompanied by Senior Sephardi Rabbi Joseph Dweck, Rabbi Shalom Morris of Bevis Marks and Vice President of the S&P Sephardi Community David Ereira.
The visit on Friday was part of Bourne’s tour highlighting the country’s “diverse landscape of faith communities and places of worship,” during which he will visit each of England’s 42 Anglican cathedrals.
Dweck said: “It is inspiring and greatly encouraging to see that Lord Bourne is actively engaging with the different faith communities of our country and is working to uphold the great beauty, charitable works and moral teachings of the different faiths that add so much to British Society. It was an honour to welcome him.”
