Shavuot cookery event raises funds for TAU trauma therapy workshop
Chef Shiri Kraus of Epicurus Camden demonstrates three milky dishes
In celebration of Shavuot, TAU Women’s Circle held a live cooking evening yesterday with TAU alumna and chef Shiri Kraus.
Shiri, who together with her business partner Amir Batito owns Epicurus restaurant in Camden, showed the group of attendees how to make three simple milky dishes plus a tzatziki and then everyone got the chance to tuck in.
She started with a Bulgarian ‘banitza’ cream cheese and pepper filo pie that reflects her Bulgarian heritage. Then there was a lemon tiramisu, two-ingredient bagels, and a simple tzatziki.
The event was held at Woodalls Lugano, who welcomed TAU to their newly renovated kitchen showroom in Temple Fortune as the first charity that they have hosted. This space is available free of charge for community and charity events like tastings, food demonstrations and more.
Tel Aviv University Trust CEO Cara Case said: “We are absolutely delighted to have hosted so many fabulous women at our Shavuot cooking demonstration event with the brilliant TAU alumna and London-based chef and restauranteur, Shiri Kraus. It was a wonderful opportunity to bring our community together, celebrate incredible culinary talent, and showcase the remarkable achievements of our alumni network.”
The evening raised funds for a PTSD Art & Woodcraft Workshop at Tel Aviv University, a meaningful initiative helping individuals who are coping with severe trauma. The Workshop will integrate painting and woodworking into TAU’s clinical treatment pathway under professional supervision.
