Radlett sixth-former Yoni Stone nominated for award

A sixth-former from Radlett has been nominated for a young people’s award, after his fundraising efforts helped raise almost £40,000.
Yoni Stone (pictured) was nominated for the Smith Milne Young People of the Year honour (YOPEY) by his school chaplain, Reverend Dr Jan Goodair.
The 18-year-old, who is a member of both Radlett United and St Albans Masorti synagogues, raised funds to support deprived young people in both Britain and Africa. He helped establish the Tanzanian charity KidzCare, which aims to educate 491 children via its pre-schools and primary schools.
Yoni said: “I was surprised at first as I was not expecting it. I felt honoured and also happy my teacher recognised my efforts and believed I was worthy of the award.”
As chairman of the Charity Matters committee at Haberdashers’ Aske’s School for Boys in Aldenham, he oversaw a project called Time for Tanzania, which encouraged the student body to devote an hour to fundraising. His efforts also extend beyond the school gates – he raised more than £2,100 for Kisharon by taking part in a Windsor triathlon and Purim spiel.
