A real pitta! Solly’s set to serve its last shawarma
Legendary north London restaurant Solly’s is set to close its doors for the final time, Jewish News has learnt.
The famous eaterie on Golders Green Road, a staple of communal life for the past 20 years, will serve its final shawarma within the next 48 hours.
Fans of the restaurant have taken to Twitter to decry the end of an institution, with the hashtag #savesollys being widely shared on the social media website.
One said: “What? Are you serious? No More Solly’s? Properly gutted.”
Renowned shawarma aficionado and blogger, Chas Newkey-Burden, meanwhile, tweeted: “This is practically apocalyptic.”
Solly’s suffered a major fire in 2007, which closed the restaurant for several months.
