The group stages of the new Invitational Cup saw resounding wins for Norstar London Raiders B and Brady Maccabi Masters, writes Jeremy Silverstone.

In the day’s only league encounter, the champagne is still on ice as Glenthorne A unexpectedly missed the chance to clinch the title. Phil Mayer and Jeremy Fess gave Temple Fortune an unlikely 2-1 victory, with Sid Shaw replying for Glenthorne.
In Temple Fortune’s player-manager David Goldberg’s final game, his team inflicted a first league defeat of the season on Glenthorne, although they still have two games to play to earn the two points needed to secure the top spot.
A clearly tired and emotion Goldberg was full of praise for his players: “It was a magnificent team effort, and I was proud of every one of them. What a way to end the season!”
MGBSFL/MMFL INVITATIONAL CUP, SPONSORED BY PURPLE MARKETING:
In the group stages of the MMFL-MGBSFL Invitation Trophy, Scrabble Harmen Masters edged out Faithfold B 4-3 with goals from Nigel Goldthorpe, Stefan Simons, Paul Lenchner and an own goal.
The fixture between Jewdinese and North London Raiders was poised at 2-2, with Ashley Davidson having netted twice for Raiders, when Jewdinese’s Simeon Cohen suffered a broken leg in the 55th minute, following which it was agreed that the game should be abandoned. Our best wishes go to Simeon for a speedy recovery.
Meanwhile, Hendon beat Brady Masters 5-2 thanks to a hat-trick from Gav Noe, along with strikes from Avi Mocton and Avi Markiewicz. Dan Sugarman and Mark Wagman replied for Brady.
