SAVE-OF-THE-WEEK NOMINATIONS:

QUOTE-OF-THE-WEEK NOMINATIONS:
1) DAVID GARBACZ (HENDON UNITED A) – “Assuming everyone stays fit we could be in for a very special second half of the season and I wouldn’t be cracking open the champagne just yet if I was in the Norstar camp . We ain’t going anywhere anytime soon I can assure you.”
2) TONY CHARLES (WOODFORD WANDERERS) – “I’m a coach. I’m not Harry Potter. He is magical, but in reality there is no magic. Magic is fiction and football is real.”
3) DAVID GORDON (FC TEAM B) – “We always looked a threat going forward and the big man/little man combination of Matt and Mitch worked perfectly – a bit like Niall Quinn and Kevin Phillips in their pomp”

CYRIL ANEKSTEIN CUP FOURTH ROUND (number in brackets represents division):
OAKWOOD A (Prem) 3 FAITHFOLD A (Prem) 1
Oakwood won the battle of the two Premier Division sides as goals from Bradley Wine, Sam Jacobson and Adam Levine saw them shock Faithfold.
O’s joint-manager Ric Blank told jewishnews.co.uk: “We’re delighted to be in the last four of the Anekstein. It’s our first appearance in the semis of this competition and it shows how far we’ve come that we managed to beat a team as good as Faithfold. We’ve already knocked Brady out of the competition and now have a huge game on the 3G at Raiders in a few weeks. We can’t wait.
Mike Pearson scored for Faithfold, for whom player-manager Zuriel Solomon told jewishnews.co.uk: “Very disappointed with our result. We are just not at the level we were at last season and it is not hard to see where the problem is.
“Oakwood played well and credit to them they wanted it more. It is up to the boys to pick themselves up otherwise this season will be a disaster.”

WOODFORD WANDERERS (1) 1 HENDON UNITED A (Prem) 6
Hendon ensured there was no cup upset in Willesden as two goals each from Avidan Last and Yishai Last saw David Garbacz’s side to this emphatic win.
Strikes from Ari Last and Danny Kon wrapped up the win.
Jason Goldstein had made the score 2-1 shortly after the restart.

FC TEAM A 3 CAMDEN PARK 4
Camden moved a point clear of the bottom two as they won this seven-goal thriller.
Guy Marks, David Khalastchi, Richard Silver and an own goal scored for Camden, with joint-player-manager Nick Kagan telling jewishnews.co.uk: “A long overdue three points, we still caused ourselves problems by conceding sloppy goals and letting Team get back to 3-3 after we had been 3-1 up.
“However, we got a thoroughly deserved winner at the end which capped a dominate, motivated performance. Cue widespread relief.”
Marc Harris, Adam Rones and Richard Salmon scored for the beaten hosts.
————————–
LONDON MACCABI LIONS BLUE 0 NORSTAR LONDON RAIDERS A 2
Phile Peters’ side increased their lead at the top 17 points as goals in each half from Matt Stock and David Dinkin saw them to this ‘fairly comfortable’ win.
Lions player-manager Jamie Kyte told jewishnews.co.uk: “A very tight game today with hardly anything in it. The plastic pitch specialists lived up to their name and were a tough opposition to play against. We turned off twice and got punished.”

DIVISION ONE:
TABLE
SEASON PREVIEW
FIXTURES & RESULTS
BRIXTON OLD BOYS 3 CHIGWELL ATHLETIC 3
Both sides remain perilously close to the relegation zone as they shared a six-goal thriller in this 3-3 draw.
Brixton had found themselves 2-0 up inside the opening 15 minutes, but then scored a late equaliser with five minutes left.
Ryan Cole scored twice for the visitors, with Bradley Gayer also on target. Player-manager Richard Slater told jewishnews.co.uk: “We didn’t take our chances and lost concentration in defence. Not good enough as we were all over them after the first 15 minutes.”
————————–
HENDON UNITED SPORTS B 0 LOS BLANCOS 5
Blancos moved further away from the relegation trapdoor – while leaving Hendon firmly rooted to the foot of the table – as two goals from Jono Gaon helped them to this comfortable win.
Adam Hersh, Darren Russell and Joel Kutner were also all on target.

NORTH WEST NEASDEN P BRADY MACCABI B P
MATCH POSTPONED – WATERLOGGED PITCH
————————–
SPEC 3 SHIRLEY PARK 2
SPEC moved four points off the bottom spot as goals from Simon Bagel, player-manager Ricky Lawrence and Daniel Pike saw them edge this five-goal thriller.
Lawrence told jewishnews.co.uk: “We knew we had to win and even at 2-1 down with about 10 minutes to go we still thought we had a chance to do so. We kept pushing right to the last minute and it paid off.”

FIXTURES & RESULTS
ATHLETIC BILBAUM 2 FC TEAM B 4
David Gordon’s side boosted their chances of avoiding the drop as they claimed an impressive win at Bilbaum to move off the bottom of the table.
Mitch Lassman helped himself to a hat-trick, with Matt Davis also on target for Team. Jake Gilbert and Josh Flax scored for Bilbaum.
Player-manager David Gordon told jewishnews.co.uk: “From an attacking point of view this was probably our best performance and we should have won by more really. We always looked a threat going forward and the big man/little man combination of Matt and Mitch worked perfectly – a bit like Niall Quinn and Kevin Phillips in their pomp. We keep our good run going and everyone is really enjoying their football now.”
