Swastika discovered in Stanmore Common for second time

In October of last year, the appearance of several swastikas daubed on post along the nature trail were reported to police

A swastika has been daubed on a post in Stanmore Common – the second time in a year graffiti of the Nazi symbol has been discovered at the site.

It was discovered yesterday morning on a post in Warren Lane by Jacey Harris, a dog walker who frequents the nature reserve every day.

“Just reminds me that even in the most peaceful and pleasant surroundings, antisemitism crawls in and ruins a perfectly nice dog walk,” she said.

In October of last year, the appearance of several swastikas daubed on posts along the nature trail was reported to police after an Israeli visitor walking on Shabbat discovered them.

Mark Gardner, director of communications at the Community Security Trust, said: “It is not the first time we have seen reports of swastikas at this location and we hope that it is quickly removed.”
