Tech that! Samsung Galaxy S22+ review – ✡✡✡✡

The Galaxy S22+ is Samsung’s middle child in their three-tier line-up – not too big like the S22 Ultra, not too small like the regular S22.

Plus points

  •  The build quality and design are excellent over last year’s model by using more premium materials
  • The cameras are a cut above the competition with excellent point and shoot capability in most scenarios. It has solid video recording, and a versatile mix of ultrawide and zoom lenses.
  • The slightly thicker design and flatter sides allow for a bigger battery, which is always welcome
  • Under-display fingerprint sensor is quick, along with the vibration motor, which feels great in the hand

Nil points

  • Although Samsung’s One UI software has come extremely far over the years, it still felt ever so slow and sluggish even after multiple software updates
  • With a bigger battery you’d be forgiven for thinking that this phone would last longer. Sadly not. Some days I’d end up with 10-20% battery life before bedtime.
  • Camera optimisation for social media apps is still an issue even with Samsung promoting its collaboration with Tik Tok, Snapchat and Instagram to fix this.

Verdict ✡ ✡ ✡ ✡

The Galaxy S22+ is Samsung’s middle child in their three-tier line-up. For me, it sits in the Goldilocks zone of not being too big like the S22 Ultra and not being too small like the regular S22. I’d use this as my daily driver without hesitation.
