What is it?
This is Samsung’s yearly Ultra phone which packs all the bells and whistles into one sleek titanium package earning it the title of ‘Ultra’, but with a hefty price tag to match.

us points
• The hardware, as usual, is top tier. Samsung has stuck to a titanium frame whilst going with a less boxy device. The corners are nice and rounded now which feels much better in the hand and matches the rest of the S25 line up of phones.
• The screen on this phone is stunning. But we wouldn’t expect anything less from Samsung.
• Performance on this phone is above and beyond most people’s needs. It’s running the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chip.
• Whilst not the biggest size in a phone this large, battery life is good and will get you through a whole day and then some.
• Cameras are still some of the best you can get on a smartphone. Pictures are sharp and detailed, and video is smooth with good stabilisation. This is the first Galaxy phone that will allow power users to shoot video in Log format which gives professionals advanced colour grading options when editing their footage.
• Samsung’s AI features are scattered all over this phone. I found the most useful ones for me where within the Samsung browser. Being able to summarise large paragraphs of text and then read it out aloud was very handy.
Nil points
• The latest standard for charging, Qi2, is missing. It allows phones to charge using magnets on the back to align the charger. Hopefully we can get this in next year’s S26 Ultra.
• For some reason Samsung removed Bluetooth from the famous S Pen, meaning that you can’t use the pen as a shutter when taking pictures from a distance. I found that feature very useful in the past.
• A new battery technology called “Silicon carbon” is missing from this phone. It would have allowed for a bigger capacity of battery in the same footprint. Competitors are already using this in their phones.
• The S25 Ultra is expensive, but to be fair it was never a budget phone. Luckily there are the cheaper S25 and S25+ phones to choose from which can save you some cash.

Verdict: If you’re still using an older Galaxy phone (say an S23 or earlier) then the Galaxy S25 Ultra will be an excellent upgrade which will last you for years to come. Online there has been much buzz from iPhone users looking to switch to Samsung and it’s not hard to see why.
