Terminal cancer patient dies peacefully in his sleep

Daniel Weston passed away at home on Friday afternoon and will be buried today at Edgwarebury Cemetery

The wife of a father of two whose fight against cancer moved the community has paid loving tribute to the 46-year old after he passed away. 

Daniel Weston from Borehamwood, was diagnosed with bowel cancer three and a half years ago. The disease spread to his liver, lymph nodes, pelvis, neck and lung; a recent scan revealed necrosis of the bowel. He went home to spend his last days with his family, who announced he had passed away in his sleep on Friday afternoon. He will be buried today at Edgwarebury Jewish Cemetery.

A crowdfunding campaign set up to support wife Hayley, 47,  daughter Leia, aged six, and eight-year-old son Raphael has reached nearly half of its £50k target. On it, Hayley posted a message to family and friends:

“It is with a heavy broken heart that I tell you that Daniel Weston my soul mate and best friend passed peaceful to heaven yesterday afternoon in his sleep. Thank you to everyone who has support us through this. The support from close family, friends and strangers has been overwhelming amazing and we love each and everyone of you. goodnight my love, sleep peacefully now and I know you will always be watching over us x.”

She has said they “were blessed with two wonderful children Raphael and Leia, in the two weeks before he passed we were blessed with time they didn’t think he would have to fulfil all his last wishes, thank you to everyone who has support us through this, came to say goodbye and brought him all his favourite meals and drinks. The support from close family and friends has been overwhelming amazing and we love each and everyone of you.”
