TikTok removes Wiley’s account
Video sharing site takes action after being warned that the grime artist may use it to 'espouse deeply antisemitic views' following suspension from other platforms
Video sharing site TikTok is the latest social media giant to remove racist grime artist Wiley from its platform.
This comes after communal groups successfully asked Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram to take down his social media profiles in wake of a series of antisemitic posts last month.
The Board of Deputies Vice President, Amanda Bowman, said: “A couple of weeks ago we were in touch with TikTok to warn them that Wiley, who had been using other social media platforms to espouse deeply antisemitic views, might decide to use their platform to do so. They told us they would monitor the situation closely.
“Following this Board of Deputies intervention, we understand that Wiley has now also been banned from TikTok and would thank them for their action in this regard.”
Wiley had 24,000 followers on TikTok, and almost half-a-million on both Twitter and Instagram.
TikTok has been approached for comment.
Last week, the Cabinet Office confirmed an investigation was underway into the possible removal of his MBE. Wiley, who is also under investigation by police, was dropped by his management company in wake of the antisemitic social media outburst last month.
