Tom Brady statue unveiled as NFL legend backs campaign against antisemitism
NFL icon honoured with 12ft statue while wearing pin for US initiative tackling rising antisemitism
NFL great Tom Brady has been immortalised in bronze outside Gillette Stadium – and used the moment to spotlight a cause close to the Jewish community.
The 48-year-old quarterback, who won six Super Bowls with the New England Patriots before a seventh with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, attended Friday’s unveiling of a 12-foot statue depicting him with one arm raised in triumph. Including the base, the tribute reaches 17 feet, a nod to his record 17 AFC East division titles.
Brady, who is Catholic but has longstanding ties to Jewish life through family and visits to Israel, wore a blue square “Stand Up to Jewish Hate” pin during the ceremony. The symbol represents the Foundation to Combat Antisemitism (FCAS), established by Patriots owner Robert Kraft to challenge rising antisemitism and promote solidarity.
The pin has featured prominently in the FCAS’s high-profile campaigns, including a Super Bowl advert in which Brady appeared alongside Snoop Dogg. Kraft, speaking at the ceremony, called Brady “the heartbeat of our franchise” and praised his support for fighting hate.
“This is quite overwhelming to me,” Brady told the crowd. “I feel extremely honoured, deeply grateful, and if I’m being honest, kind of old. I never dreamed I’d be standing here two and a half decades later, made of bronze and frozen in time.”
Brady’s career spanned 23 seasons, with 333 regular season starts and 48 playoff appearances – more than any quarterback in NFL history. Since retiring in 2023, he has taken a minority stake in the Las Vegas Raiders and English football club Birmingham City, while continuing to work with Kraft’s foundation.
