Tributes to ex-JFS pupil after body found in Argentina

Tributes have poured in for former JFS pupil David Minn who has died in Argentina while hiking.
The local civil defence said the 24-year-old from Borehamwood’s body was discovered on a mountainous hiking trail near the city of Ushuaia, close to the Esmeralda Lagoon.
Defensa Civil Ushuaia said it was an area popular with tourists, and it is believed Mr Minn may have fallen. The region is close to the Martial mountain range in Tierra del Fuego province in the far south of the country.
David’s sister Hayley took to social media to pay tribute to her younger brother. After sending out an appeal on Twitter to help locate him, she wrote on Thursday the family had “got the devastating news we didn’t want and it’s breaking my heart.”
She wrote on Instagram: “To my perfect baby brother David, I love you so much and I’m heartbroken right now. I can’t believe I’m never going to see you and that massive smile or hear that infectious dirty laugh everyone’s been talking about ever again. You were always the younger brother I could never live up to, who everyone adored and you never had a bad word to say about anyone.
This is the most unjust thing that has ever happened, but I’m so happy we came out to see you in South America in December and that I got to spend two weeks with you – and get so drunk neither of us remember why I ended up asleep in the corridor of a hotel.
“I miss you so much already, and I really hope you’re up in heaven with nana looking down on us and seeing that you’re being called a rocket scientist in the papers, because I know you’d love that.
I’ll see you soon xx”
His former school said in a statement: “JFS is deeply saddened to learn of David’s death. He will be remembered as a fun-loving, talented and able student with a great personality. We extend our condolences to the entire family”.
Sheffield University paid their respects to David, writing “we are incredibly saddened to hear about the death of graduate David Minn. David graduated with an MEng in Aerospace Engineering in 2017.”
A Foreign Office spokesman said: “We are supporting the family of a British national who sadly died in Argentina, and we are in contact with the local authorities.”
