Two Israeli films nominated for 2018 Emmy Awards
'Forever Pure' and 'Princess Shaw' have been shortlisted for this year's prestigious film and television prize
Two Israeli films have been nominated for this year’s prestigious News and Documentary Emmy Awards.
‘Forever Pure’, a documentary made by Maya Zinshtein, is about Beitar Jerusalem football club, and more pertinently its fans’ racist outrage in 2012 when the club signed two Muslim players and has been nominated under the News and Documentary Emmy Awards.
Winning three awards at the Jerusalem Film Festival in 2016, it was later screened at dozens of international film festivals, and was purchased by Netflix last year.
Ido Haar’s ‘Princess Shaw’, has been shortlisted in the POV category, dedicated to films which focus on arts and culture, and tells the story of New Orleans singer, Princess Shaw, who was accidentally discovered by Israeli musician Kutiman. Supported by Israel’s Yes Doco and the New Fund for Cinema and Television, it has also been purchased by Netflix.
The awards evening is scheduled to take place on 1 October.
