UJS expands student offering with network for sixth formers and apprenticeships
Union of Jewish Students made first pit stop at Croydon College freshers’ fair
The organisation representing nearly 9,000 Jewish students at 70 Jewish societies across the UK and Ireland has launched a network for sixth form students and anyone undertaking an apprenticeship.
The initiative is part of plans by the Union of Jewish Students (UJS) to provide for all Jewish students at colleges and undertaking apprenticeships; this includes any study after secondary school that is not considered part of classic university education.
Through the new network, Jewish apprentices are connected to their local Jewish Society (JSoc), invited to exclusive networking events with industry leaders, and can take part in national UJS programming, including UJS Convention, Jewniversity Challenge, and student sport events.
Apprentices are also included in wider UJS advocacy, joining the thousands of Jewish students in higher education across the UK and Ireland already empowered by UJS.
UJS marked the occasion on Monday 4th September by attending its first freshers’ fair for students in sixth form as well as apprenticeships at Croydon College.
The organisation’s apprenticeships officer Matty Fisher handed out UJS freshers packs to Jewish students at the college who are working towards T-Levels, apprenticeships, and BTECs.
UJS president 2023-24, Edward Isaacs said: “We are delighted to be expanding UJS’ programming into new areas supporting even more Jewish students. Our visit to Croydon is a landmark step in our work to engage students and apprentices in everything UJS has to offer. We look forward to further expanding this work over the next year.”
