VIDEO: Bradford is a Galloway-free zone – says ‘Zionists will be celebrating’
George Galloway has conceded defeat in Bradford West, claiming ‘Zionists will be celebrating.’
The firebrand Respect party veteran former MP, and party leader, lost his Bradford West seat, amassing 8557 votes compared to his Labour opponent, Naz Shah, who obtained 19, 977 votes. This was a losing margin of 11, 420, a 4.2% swing to Labour from the Lib Dems.
Mr Galloway, known for his strong support of Palestinians and opposition to Israel gave a losing speech, in which he said: ““The venal and the vile, the racists and the Zionists will all be celebrating.””
He congratulated Labour on their victory, on a night which there were major losses in Scotland, in addition to former Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls losing his seat.
Galloway ended his address saying: “I’m going off now to plan my next campaign”, referring to his previously stated intention to run for London Mayoral election in 2016.
