WATCH: Police arrest armed assailant on Golders Green flyover
Footage shows the moment a dozen officers confront the armed individual, telling him repeatedly to "get down now" and "stop resisting."
This is the shocking moment an armed man was chased and arrested in a dramatic showdown on a Golders Green flyover on Monday afternoon.
Footage shared on social media reveals the moment a dozen officers confront the armed individual, telling him repeatedly to “get down now” and “stop resisting.”
During the incident, the assailant tried to run away before being pursued by officers on both sides of the walkway.
As they make the arrest, he can be heard screaming, as police cars cornered off the A406 below.
The Metropolitan Police issued a statement saying they were called at 10:24hrs on Monday, 20 December to reports of an assault close to Brent Cross Shopping Centre.
“Officers attended and spoke with the victim, who did not require medical treatment. The suspect was located nearby and ran from officers. The man armed himself with a large metal pole before continuing towards a footbridge where he refused to engage with officers. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of assault and assaulting an emergency worker. He was taken to a north London hospital as a precaution.”
