Wimbledon 2018 – Jonathan Erlich wins doubles opener
Israeli and Polish partner safely through to second round at SW19 following straight-sets win on Wednesday afternoon
Jonathan Erlich is through to the second round of the men’s doubles competition.
Partnering up with Poland’s Marcin Matkowski, they beat French duo Jonathan Eysseric and Hugo Nys 7-6, 7-6, 7-6, with Erlich sealing the win with a delicious angled chip.
They will next face either GB pair Luke Bambridge and Jonny O’Mara, or Brazilian Marcelo Melo and Pole Lukasz Kubot for a place in the third round.
Later on Wednesday, Italian Camila Giorgi will be bidding to reach the third round of the women’s singles competition.
