Wizz Air to resume flights to Israel next month
Similar decisions by United Airlines and Lufthansa Group marks latest reset of travel to the Jewish State
Wizz Air plans to resume flights between UK and Israel on 8 August, four weeks ahead of its previously announced schedule.
The development follows the recent lifting of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) advice “against all travel or all but essential travel” put in place after recent hostilities.
It has now been relaxed to allow normalised travel arrangements to all major Israeli visitor and tourist locations.
Two weeks ago, the Israel Airports Authority announced Ben Gurion Airport and Haifa Airport had returned to full operational capacity following the Israeli government’s decision to lift security restrictions.
Michael Ben Baruch, director, Israel Ministry of Tourism in UK, said: “I’m extremely pleased to see this positive news so quickly after the reopening of Israel’s airports and airspace.”
Germany’s Lufthansa airline group, (which includes Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, and Eurowings) also said Monday that it was preparing to gradually resume its flight operations to and from Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion airport, starting 1 August.
United Airlines will restart its service between Newark Liberty International Airport and Tel Aviv with a single flight on 21 July, with flights twice a day resuming the following day.
