The Jewish community in Warsaw had to cancel its celebration of Poland’s Independence Day this weekend, citing security concerns. Polish media reported that the decision was based on specific warnings. The Polish chief rabbi was due to recite a prayer for Poland at the city’s historic Nozyk synagogue.
Country: Italy
An interfaith delegation from Arab and Gulf states have met Italian Jewish leaders at Rome’s main synagogue, calling for an alliance of moderates to combat extremism. Muslim, Buddhist, Sikh and Orthodox Church leaders attended. The city’s Jewish community president told them: ‘Our door is always open.’

A neo-Nazi group in Germany has posted a map on Facebook of 70 locations of properties owned or run by Jewish organisations. The map, titled ‘Jews Among Us,’ contained the addresses of primary schools, synagogues, shops, restaurants and cemeteries. It was posted on the 78th anniversary of Kristallnacht.

The far-flung Jewish community of the Philippines is to take part in the Global Day of Jewish Learning for the first time. The annual learning event, organised by the Aleph Society, now counts 40 participating countries, and takes place on 20 November. This year it includes debates about animal welfare.
