Youth campaign promotes Palestinian non-violence
Yachad Youth's 'Partners to Peace' initiative will seek to raise £8,000 for educational programmes
A new campaign has been launched by a Jewish youth group which raises money for a Palestinian NGO in order to promote non-violence.
Yachad Youth’s ‘Partners to Peace’ initiative looks to raise funds for the Holy Land Trust, a Palestinian based organisation in Bethlehem, whose opposes the use of violence.
A group of 30 Jewish Students are taking part, having been inspired by their experiences on Yachad trips to the West Bank.
Seeking to help raise £8000 to help fund long-term educational programmes, Durham University student Josh Newmark, said that by “emphasising the mutual need for human rights, security, and sovereignty [and] by training young people in non-violence, [we] can help spread that optimism until it becomes a new consensus.”
Rachel Vogler, 20, a student at the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama, said “Partners To Peace empowers young British Jews to take ownership of the way we talk about the Israeli occupation of the West Bank in our communities”.
