Youth volunteering session with Jewish Care cancelled as virus cases rise to 115
Parents of teens in Year 8 set to volunteer with Jewish Care this Sunday were told the session will not go ahead
A youth volunteering session with the charity Jewish Care this weekend has been cancelled to avoid the risk of the coronavirus spreading.
Parents of teens in Year 8 on the Project ImpACT programme set to volunteer with Jewish Care this Sunday were told the session will not go ahead “due to the possible risk of infection to their residents” in an email on Thursday.
Sessions with other year groups taking place this weekend have not been cancelled.
“Please accept our apologies – we hope to be able to reschedule as and when we can,” the email read.
Hundreds of teenagers from across Years 8 to 11 volunteer with a number of charities as part of the Project ImpACT programme.
The UK has seen over 160 people tested positive for the virus, as of Friday, up from 115 on Thursday.
A woman in her 70s became the first patient in the country diagnosed with Covid-19 to die after contracting the illness.
