27,000 took part in virtual memorial and Kol Nidre services for Yom Kippur
Chief Rabbi led an online Yizkor broadcast, including a memorial prayer composed for victims of the pandemic, before Pinner United Synagogue led prayers for the Day of Atonement
More than 27,000 people took part in a Yizkor memorial service and KolNidre service thanks to a unique collaboration between the Office of the Chief Rabbi, Pinner United Synagogue and the United Synagogue.
The services were broadcast on social media and the US TV, the United Synagogue’s new on-demand video platform and on social media.
The Chief Rabbi led a national online Yizkor broadcast, including a new memorial prayer composed for victims of the pandemic.
The United Synagogue broadcast Kol Nidre prayers before Yom Kippur, with Pinner United Synagogue’s Rabbi Ben Kurzer, Chazan Sam Freeman and the socially-distanced shul choir.
There will be another Yizkor service this Friday afternoon ahead of Yom Tov for those people who will be unable to make it to shul on ShminiAtzeret. Yizkor will be broadcast live at 5pm on TheUS.tv with Rabbi Yitzchak Schochet and Chazan Moshe Caplan of Mill Hill United Synagogue.
