Board piloting scheme for ‘mentors’ to educate wider community about Judaism
Initial group of 16 pass application, screening and training programme as they receive certificates from senior community leaders
The Board of Deputies is piloting a scheme for trained “mentors” to educate the wider community about Judaism.
An initial group of 16 mentors passed through an application, screening and training programme on Sunday, receiving certificates from senior Board leaders.
The mentors are all volunteers who will be doing outreach work in their spare time. A further five are currently going through the training process.
“This is a wonderful programme which will increase understanding of our Jewish way of life in the wider community,” said the Board’s vice president Edwin Shuker.
“We are truly grateful to those who have given their time to do this valuable work in their spare time and to the skilled trainers and staff at the Board of Deputies who have enabled this process.”
