Tali Dee and Ariel Rosenfeld celebrate their engagement, announced three years after the April 2023 terror attack.

Three years after a terror attack that killed her mother and two sisters, Tali Dee has announced her engagement, in a moment her family described as “transforming darkness into light”.

The 20-year-old became engaged to Ariel Rosenfeld, from Jerusalem, over Pesach, with the announcement shared on the third anniversary of the April 2023 attack in the Jordan Valley.

Her father, Rabbi Leo Dee – a British-Israeli educator and former senior rabbi of Radlett United Synagogue – said: “We are excited to welcome Ariel into our family, transforming our darkness into light.”

The date of the announcement coincides with the yahrzeit of Maia and Rina, who were killed alongside their mother, Lucy.

In a message shared on social media, Tali reflected on the significance of the timing, writing: “I got engaged today, three years after the attack. There is grief in me that has not ended, but also a deep feeling that my mother was with me every step of the way.

“Amid the pain, we choose to move forward, to love, to build a life – you will always be in our hearts.”

The couple’s connection was first made during a visit to Auschwitz two years ago, when Tali travelled to Poland alongside Ariel’s mother and sister.

Ariel is the son of Yonit and Micky Rosenfeld, who is originally from London.

Rabbi Dee served as senior rabbi of Radlett United Synagogue between 2011 and 2014.
