FBI arrests four members of ‘Pro-Palestinian’ group over terror plot
Splinter group from the 'Turtle Island Liberation Front' accused of planning mass terror attack in Los Angeles on New Year's Eve
The FBI has arrested multiple members of what it described as an extremist group “motivated by pro-Palestinian, anti-law-enforcement, and anti-government ideology”, which it said was planning a series of bombings in California on New Year’s Eve.
In a statement on social media, Kash Patel, the director of the FBI, announced that “over the weekend, the FBI disrupted a credible, imminent terrorist threat and arrested four individuals connected to the Los Angeles area. The subjects self-identified as members of a radical offshoot of the Turtle Island Liberation Front (TILF), an extremist group motivated by pro-Palestinian, anti-law-enforcement, and anti-government ideology. They were allegedly planning coordinated IED bombing attacks on New Year’s Eve, targeting five separate locations across Los Angeles.”
Patel went on to state that “in the days since, the FBI in New Orleans arrested an additional FIFTH individual believed to be linked to this radical TILF subgroup – also allegedly planning a separate violent attack”.
He congratulated what he described as “outstanding work by our investigators and law enforcement partners at the Justice Department. Their work undoubtedly saved countless lives.”
The name “Turtle Island” is used by some far-left activists as a name for America, associated with a creation story common to several native American tribes. The name is used in association with the charge that all more recent people arriving are settler-colonialists. A TILF social media account states that its goal is to free the continent from the “illegal American empire.”
FBI sources told Fox News that the four California members of the splinter group were arrested in Lucerne Valley – approximately 100 miles from Los Angeles – where they were suspected to be preparing to test explosive devices prior to the planned attacks. All four have been charged with conspiracy and possession of a destructive device. Information regarding their alleged targets has not been released.
