He did it oy vey! Frank Sinatra’s kippa sells for almost £8,000
Black head covering with musical notes and the singer's name exceeded its initial estimated price of just over £300
A hand-crocheted yarmulke that once belonged to Frank Sinatra sold at auction for nearly £7900 ($10,000).
The black kippah, with musical notes and “Frank” decorating its border, was auctioned off by Sotheby’s on Dec. 6 in New York as part its sale of items belonging to the estate of the singer’s late wife, Barbara.
The catalogue did not indicate who made the kippah or gave it to Sinatra, although it does note that he was “a lifelong sympathiser with Jewish causes.”
The yarmulke sold for£7404 $9,375, shattering its original estimate of £157-315 ($200-$400).
