Israeli-born Schlesinger suffers early exit for GB
Judoka star defeated in last 16 of U63 kg event
Israeli-born Alice Schlesinger has been knocked out of the U63kg event.
Representing GB since 2014, through her British-born mother, the 28-year-old who reached the quarter-finals for Israeli at London 2012, beat Korea’s Jiyun Bak by an Ippon in her first fight of the tournament on Tuesday afternoon.
However, up against the Netherlands’ Anicka Van Emden for a place in the quarter-finals, with no points secured by either fighter, Schlesinger was beaten by virtue of picking up a penalty point.
