Israeli singer who adapted Hebrew prayer into viral song featured in new video
Musicians Yair Levi and Shai Sol now feature in a new music video alongside Hadassah Hospital workers in Jerusalem, each reciting the prayer in a different language
An Israeli singer who adapted a Hebrew healing prayer into a viral song is now featured in a music video filmed inside a Jerusalem hospital.
Musicians Yair Levi and Shai Sol drew wide media coverage earlier this year with their rendition of the biblical prayer Na Refa Na La (O God, pray heal her), which has been covered in different languages by online users across the world.
The duo now feature in another video alongside Hadassah Hospital workers in Jerusalem, each reciting the prayer in a different language.
Professor Zeev Rotstein, director general of the Hadassah Medical Organisation, praised the facility’s team. “They’re going the extra mile, above and beyond. I admire each and every one of them,” he said.
Levi, whose grandmother recently contracted an illness unrelated to Covid-19, told the Israel website ynet.com last month that he was inspired by the Book of Numbers prayer amid the pandemic.
“Due the epidemic, I received the names of people in need of prayer and a list of about 20 names accumulated on my fridge. Every day, I would say a prayer for the sick, and I searched for words and a tune related to medicine,” he told the website.
