Israel’s Guy Sasson and partner Niels Vink have claimed a second successive Wimbledon – and a sixth Grand Slam on the trot – in the quad wheelchair doubles.

The pair are still on course for a calendar Grand Slam – winning all four of the major championships in Melbourne, Paris, London and New York in one calendar year – after winning the final 6-2 6-1 against the second seeds Sam Shroder and Jin Woodman on Saturday.

The defending champions were never troubled from the start and took just 32 minutes to wrap up the first set with a double break of serve.

A string of passing shots from the Israeli-Dutch pairing, combined with four consecutive service losses from their opponents, saw the top seeds go 4-0 up in the second set. And despite the the Australian holding serve in the fifth game, Vink went on to serve it out for the title.

Congratulating his runners-up, Sasson said: “I have a great partner and we complete each other as a team. We knew we had to perform today and we’re looking for many more finals in together.”

Vink, 23 – who beat 46-year-old Sasson in Friday’s singles semi final – joked his partner, “makes me feel young. Our games are perfect together. I think today he played better than me”.
