Jewdas suspended by Facebook after asking if quotes are Herzl or Hitler
Radical left-wing Jewish group censored for 30 days by social media giant for 'violating Facebook’s community standards'
Radical Jewish collective Jewdas has had its Facebook account suspended after posting phrases and asking readers to guess whether they were said by father of Zionism Theodore Herzl or Nazi leader Adolf Hitler.
Jewdas, which continued its sardonic messaging on other social media platforms, posted a note from the tech giant saying its account had been shut down for 30 days for violating Facebook’s community standards.
Founded by Joseph Finlay in London in 2006 as a “gratuitously Jewish” group supportive of socialist ideals and advocates, it was one of the few Jewish groups to herald the former Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn MP, who attended a Jewdas Passover Seder in 2018.
Asking whether a quote was from Herzl or Hitler is not the first time the London-based collective has challenged readers on the ownership of a phrase, having posted seven lines on its website in April, asking whether they were uttered by Jewish sage Moses Maimonides or ‘princess of pop’ Britney Spears.
