Jewish Family Centre appoints new chief executive
Founder Sandy Weinbaum hands over after 25 years at the helm of communal charity
The Jewish Family Centre has appointed Tamara Jacobson as its new chief executive officer as founder Sandy Weinbaum steps down after twenty five years in post.
Jacobson joins from Noa Girls, where she has served as director of operations and people for the past four years.
Her appointment comes at a time when demand for the Centre’s services continues to grow, with increasing numbers of children, parents and families turning to the charity for emotional, educational, financial and practical support.
Founded 25 years ago by Sandy Weinbaum, the Jewish Family Centre has grown from a welcoming space for parents and children into the community’s only holistic family contact and support centre.
It provides counselling and therapy, family support, parenting guidance, advocacy with schools and statutory agencies, supervised contact visits and practical assistance under one roof.
Today she said: “I am so proud to be handing over the leadership of the Jewish Family Centre to Tamara. She brings the experience, vision and compassion to lead the organisation into its next chapter and, with Hashem’s help, I know the Centre will continue to flourish and grow”.
She added: “It has been an enormous privilege to build the Centre over the past 25 years, and I look to the future with great confidence, knowing it will continue to be there for every child and family who needs us. There is a reason that, once our clients find the Centre, they move forwards, not backwards. I know that under Tamara’s leadership, many more families will have the opportunity to do the same”.
Jacobson, who will take up the role from mid-September, said: “It is a privilege to be joining the organisation at such an important time in its history and to build on the remarkable legacy Sandy has created over the past 25 years. I look forward to working with the trustees, staff and volunteers to ensure the Centre continues to grow and respond to the changing needs of our community.”
