Jewish News books in to the Cliveden Literary Festival launch
The glamour of the Cliveden Literary Festival came to London for a star-studded launch at the Nobu hotel
Last night Jewish News attended a star-studded launch party at the Nobu hotel for the Cliveden Literary Festival 2022.
Authors, politicians and industry bigwigs enjoyed champagne and cocktails on the terrace while nibbling on a stunning array of canapes from the Nobu kitchen, including the signature blackened cod and crispy rice with miso.
Historian Andrew Roberts, co-founder of the Cliveden Literary Festival, introduced his fellow leadership team Natalie Livingstone, Simon Sebag Montefiore and Catherine Ostler as a ‘politburo’ presiding over the event, saying that they operate a ‘zero sh*ts’ policy. This is clearly designed to keep the riff raff out but it’s always an oversubscribed event so book early if you want to go – and who wouldn’t? Held across the weekend of 15 and 16 October at the beautiful hotel in Berkshire, it promises two days of stimulating talks and readings.
We chatted to Booker prizewinner Howard Jacobson, former MP Luciana Berger and Natalie Livingstone’s husband Ian. We also chatted to BBC correspondent Celestina Oluode about her early career as a presenter on a Jewish YouTube channel. “Richard (JN editor) and Justin (JN deputy editor) at the Jewish News were so incredibly helpful to me,” she said. “I was always calling up to ask for help and advice or to explain Jewish things to me. I love the Jewish News team.”
Prince Khalid Bin Bandar Al Saud, the Saudi ambassador to the United Kingdom, and his wife, Lucy Al Saud (she in a stunning Zimmerman dress), were deep in conversation with Simon Sebag Montefiore and philanthropist and art patron Batia Ofer was there too.
