Kalontarov falls short in 100m butterfly event
Young swimmer fails to progress to semi-finals in Rio.
Ziv Kalontarov has failed to qualify for the semi-finals of the 100m butterfly event.
The 19-year-old, who won gold at the 2016 European Championships in Baku, finished in heat in sixth place in a time of 50.12, though it wasn’t quick enough to qualify for the semi-finals, with him eventually finishing 45th out of 59 places.
However, his Games aren’t over yet with him also competing in the 50m freestyle, the heats of which get underway on Thursday.
