Michael McIntyre helps Jewish Care raise £140,000 for its Essex services
World-famous funnyman raises a smile and had crowds laughing in the aisles for a good cause at Kinloss
Michael McIntyre has helped Jewish Care raise £140,000 for its services in Essex, after Jews travelled in convoy from Redbridge to see the comedian perform at Kinloss Synagogue.
McIntyre, 42, entertained the crowd at the East meets North West London fundraising event, raising money for the area’s elderly and declining population.
He known for his support for Great Ormond Street Hospital and Comic Relief, and this week signalled his interest in the Jewish community at the fundraising event for Jewish Care’s Redbridge Sports and Entertainment Committee.
“We are so grateful to Michael McIntyre for agreeing to give up his time to entertain us in a hall just slightly smaller than Wembley,” said event committee Chair Andrew Klein. “It was an amazing evening and we couldn’t have asked for a better performer. The room was filled with laughter from the moment he started until the very end.”
Gayle Klein, a trustee of Jewish Care, explained how most people in the room will come into contact with the charity’s services at some stage in their lives.
