More than 150 take part in Work Avenue’s career networking evening
Community employment hub hosts 35 professionals who offer advice to students and recent graduates
More than a hundred and fifty budding graduates took part in a career networking session held by the community’s leading employment hub, Work Avenue.
From Ralph Lauren and the Bank of England to Apple, Waze and Jewish News, 35 sector professionals offered advice to young members of the community for the next stage in their working lives, this week.
Held on Wednesday evening at the Wohl Enterprise Hub in Finchley, professionals held a series of 8-minute micro meetings with students and graduates, making connections and looking at career options.
Run in partnership with services firm BDO, the Union of Jewish Students and MASA UK, the Your Future event, has previously led to participants being offered interviews, work placements and internships.
Debbie Sheldon, CEO of Work Avenue said it was “great to see the community coming together to help guide students’ future careers. It was fantastic to see such a range of industries represented at the event, both the traditional sectors such as law and accountancy which are always of interest to students, but also emerging industries, for example in the tech space too. It’s particularly satisfying to see former students now become our career professionals, thus turning the wheel full circle.”
Aron Nutman, Masters student at Leeds University said: “The professionals have been really helpful” and gave “some great advice, especially some invaluable commercial awareness tips”.
