National secretary of Jewish Labour Movement steps down
Peter Mason leaves the role he has held since 2013 after being elected leader of the Ealing Council last week
Peter Mason has stepped down as national secretary of the Jewish Labour Movement after being elected leader of the Ealing Council in west London.
Confirming his decision to leave his JLM role, Mason said: “With both the recovery from COVID-19 ongoing, as well as impending local elections next year, all of my focus now needs to be ensuring Labour win in Ealing.
“Since taking over as Secretary in 2013, the Jewish Labour Movement has gone from strength to strength, and I am incredibly proud to have played my part in helping to grow our movement.”
Mason also said JLM has “been a huge part of my life, and leaving my role is bittersweet.”
The organisation, who have grown to around 4000 members under Mason’s leadership, will be discussing national secretary succession plans at a meeting in the near future.
Mason remains a member of Labour’s national constitutional committee (NCC).
