Netanyahu among world leaders to congratulate Boris Johnson on election win
Long-standing Israeli prime minister says well done to his 'friend' calling it a 'great day for the people of Great Britain'
Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu was among populist leaders to send best wishes to Johnson.
The strongman leader took to Twitter to congratulate his “friend” on the “historic victory” which emerged on Friday morning.
This comes after Prime Minister Boris Johnson vowed to unite the country, after his snap General Election gamble paid off and he romped home with an estimated majority of 78.
Netanyahu said: “Congratulations my friend @BorisJohnson on your historic victory. This is a great day for the people of Great Britain and for the friendship between us”.

Prime Minister Netanyahu is facing charges of corruption and bribery, but it has been ruled he won’t have to stand aside from the forthcoming elections.
Jewish Agency chairman Isaac Herzog also congratulated Johnson, calling his victory “great news not only for England, but for the entire Jewish people and the battle on antisemitism”.
President Donald Trump congratulated the Prime Minister on his “great win” and said the UK and US would be free to strike a “massive” new trade deal after Brexit.
Mr Trump tweeted: “This deal has the potential to be far bigger and more lucrative than any deal that could be made with the E.U. Celebrate Boris!”
Ivanka Trump, President Trump’s daughter who is married to Jared Kushner, an Orthodox Jew, joined her father in congratulating Mr Johnson, tweeting: “Congratulations Prime Minister Boris Johnson!”
The president of the European Council said he expects a vote on the UK’s Brexit agreement “as soon as possible”, as world leaders commended Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s General Election success.
