Political journalist Robert Peston launches new novel at JW3 this month
The author will be in conversation with Gabriel Pogrund about his gripping political thriller The Kill Switch
Robert Peston will be at JW3 on 16 July at 7.30pm chatting to The Times journalist Gabriel Pogrund about his brand-new political thriller, The Kill Switch, on the very day of its publication.
In partnership with Jewish News, Robert and Gabriel will discuss the themes behind the novel, the realities of modern political journalism and the stories shaping the UK today, followed by an audience Q&A.
One of Britain’s most trusted and recognisable journalists, Robert Peston is ITV’s Political Editor and host of the flagship political programme Peston, as well as co-host of the hugely popular podcast The Rest is Money with Steph McGovern, where he continues to help audiences make sense of the rapidly changing worlds of politics, business and finance.
Peston is also a bestselling author, and his latest novel is a gripping and timely political thriller set at the intersection of media, money and political power. He has written four critically acclaimed non-fiction books: How Do We Fix This Mess?, Who Runs Britain?, Brown’s Britain and WTF? For a decade until the end of 2015, he was at the BBC as economics editor and business editor, and in the 1990s he was at the Financial Times as political editor, financial editor and head of investigations.
The Kill Switch is Peston’s third novel in the Gil Peck series, following The Whistleblower and The Crash. In this book Gil has has landed the interview of a lifetime with the Prime Minister, but during it she collapses and within 48 hours is dead. As the last person to see the PM alive, he’s a prime suspect.
Robert and Gabriel will discuss the themes behind The Kill Switch, the realities of modern political journalism, and the stories shaping Britain today, followed by an audience Q&A. Robert will be signing copies of the book following the event.
