Prince William meets Israeli photographer saved by London Air Ambulance
Snapper Yair Shahar and his wife Yael tell the Duke of Cambridge about the ordeal when they met at the Royal London Hospital
Prince William last week met Israeli photographer Yair Shahar at the Royal London Hospital, to hear how his life was saved by the London Air Ambulance after he was hit by a car while cycling in Enfield in 2016.
The car had driven straight over Shaahar’s pelvis, resulting in massive bleeding, but a team led by Dr Simon Walsh were able to stem the flow by the roadside before he died from loss of blood.
The father-of-three, who is married to wife Yael, has since made a good recovery, as he told the prince last Wednesday, as William announced that he was becoming Patron of the charity on its 30th anniversary.
The prince has worked as a helicopter pilot for the East Anglian Air Ambulance and holds the charity’s lifesaving work close to his heart.
