Starmer to travel to Egypt to attend signing ceremony of Gaza peace plan

Keir Starmer will travel to Egypt to attend the Sharm El Sheikh Peace Summit on Monday.
Downing Street confirmed the Prime Minister will attend the signing ceremony of the peace plan for Gaza – with the first phase of the plan expected to see the hostages returned to their families and Palestinian prisoners released by Monday morning.
No.10 claimed progress made so far is the culmination of sustained efforts by a wide range of partners – the United States, Arab States and European nations, including the UK.
They said the PM will pay particular tribute to the leadership of President Trump and the diplomatic efforts of Egypt, Qatar and Türkey in bringing us to this point.
Starmer will then call for continued international coordination to secure swift progress towards Phase Two of the plan, which includes the decommissioning of Hamas, the deployment of a ceasefire monitoring mission, an International Security Force and the implementation of transitional governance arrangements in Gaza.
