Plus points:
- Design is gorgeous. Oneplus has been making big strides with the look of their phones over the past few years.
- The screen quality is great and gets very bright in outdoor conditions
- Dual stereo speakers can reproduce loud and clear audio
- Phone performance feels fast, due to its fluid screen, processor and 12GB of memory. Even after months of use it shows no sign of slowing down
- OnePlus has been very frequent with software updates
- New Warp Charge 65 technology can recharge your phone in around half an hour!
- The phone has four cameras: a main, ultra-wide, a telephoto and monochrome lens. Overall, the picture quality is fantastic, probably the best on a OnePlus phone to date.
- OnePlus has partnered with the famous camera company Hasselblad to develop its camera system over the next three years. This year’s partnership only extends to how colours in photos are tuned.
Nil points:
- Battery performance is good but could be better. Luckily the phone can recharge quickly.
- Although stylish, the Morning Mist colour was very slippery in my hand, so I slapped a case on it.
- Monochrome lens has very little use. Getting rid of it could bring the price down.
Available from: OnePlus.com, John Lewis, Amazon
RRP from £829
Verdict: ✡ ✡ ✡ ✡
The OnePlus 9 Pro is the company’s best attempt to compete with the likes of Samsung, Google and Apple. The gap is narrowing (especially when it comes to cameras) but there’s always room to be better.
