The Queen writes message of support for Norwood’s 225th anniversary
Her Majesty honours Jewish charity which supports families of children with learning difficulties
Her Majesty the Queen has written a message of support for Norwood, one of her patron charities, ahead of their 225th anniversary event this evening.
Norwood, which is the largest Jewish children, family and learning disability charity in the UK, said they were “proud beyond words” following the message from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth.
In a letter to the charity, the Queen said: “I send my warm good wishes to Norwood’s beneficiaries, staff and all those associated with the charity.
“As your patron, I am well aware of Norwood’s long association with The Royal Family, and of your continued important work in providing support and care to individuals and families experiencing difficult times.
“I wish you all an enjoyable and memorable Virtual Dinner event this evening, as you celebrate this significant milestone in the history of Norwood.”
The event this evening has a line-up of celebrities to entertain guests, including the host Jonathan Ross, Alijaz and Janette from Strictly Come Dancing, singers Craig David, Lewis Capaldi and Lulu, as well as comedian Michael McIntyre, alongside special appearances from Rob Rinder and Natasha Kaplinsky.
Norwood, the only Jewish charity to have Her Majesty The Queen as patron, said that they are “excited and humbled by the fantastic support that we have received which looks set to make this the largest ever charity virtual event in the Jewish community”.
The charity added that “even among such a star-studded cast, the real heroes of the evening are the families that we support who share their stories with us.”
