Raiders won this all-Division One tie thanks to goals in each half from Jake Gilbert and Nicky Woolf.

Manager Jonathan Adelman told jewishnews.co.uk: “We went ahead, though then saw David Simnock pull off three super saves before we changed things at half-time. We created a lot of chances but were denied by a combination of the woodwork, the keeper and wayward finishing, before Nicky curled in a 90th minute free-kick to seal the win.”

Raiders are up into the top-four as they made it three league wins from five games.

Matt Stock helped himself to a hat-trick, Ben Ellis scored twice, with Liron Mannie, David Cohen and Nyv Bogaire also on target. Manager Daniel Shafron told jewishnews.co.uk: “I was very pleased with the performance but most importantly another three points. Brady have shown that they will give all teams in this league a good game but they caught us in full flow and in good form. We once again scored plenty of goals and created many more chances.

“It’s great having so many options in the final third where we are currently doing real damage but at the same time having a level of consistency and balance all over the pitch.”

Hendon sit top of the table on goals scored thanks to Zack Lewis’ double and Ari Last’s strike.

Hendon manager David Garbacz told jewishnews.co.uk: “We expected a tough battle today and that is exactly what we got. I’ll be amazed if Camden are in the bottom two at the end of this season as they have pushed us hard in both games we’ve played them this year. Thankfully we had a strong squad available today and we needed all 14 players, as it was three substitutions early in the second half which managed to tilt the game our way as the fresh legs finally stretched Camden and enabled us to create the chances which Zac Lewis in his current form gobbled up.

“Up to that point they were well deserving to be on level terms and probably a big moment in the match was at 1-1 when they smashed a shot against the bar. 

“However, we are made of stern stuff this season – we would not have won this game last year and our will to win and extra fitness were the telling factors in the end.

“Still 100 percent in the league which is very satisfying, but today we saw good evidence how hard it will be to keep that going. Great win though in the end but well played to Camden and we wish them all the best for the rest of the season.”

OAKWOOD A 4  SPEC 0
The O’s consolidated third spot with this comprehensive win over the Division’s bottom side.

Josh Quinn scored twice, with Josh Rose and Jonny Blain also on target. O’s joint-manager Daniel Kristall told jewishnews.co.uk: “A good performance bouncing back from dropping points at FC team the week before. We had a game plan to start fast and get the early goal as we knew SPEC would try to work their way into the game. We defended well and the boys that came into the side to helps us out deserve tremendous credit.

“Conditions weren’t ideal in thick fog but we scored inside 10 minutes with a tidy finish from Quinny. We added to it before half-time and other than a mini wobble early in the second half, I felt we had complete control of the game. We put the game to bed inside the final 10 minutes through Josh Rose and… wait for it…Goalkeeper/Striker Jonny Blain who was helping us out due to lack of available outfield players.

I felt given our injury problems, that this could have been a potential banana skin but we stuck to our plan and took the points. We now focus on Sunday where we hope to recover as many players as possible so that we can cause the in form Raiders some problems.”

The O’s also took part in the first Oakwood Singathon, in aid of the Robert Sinclair Davidson Foundation.

Joint-manager Ric Blank said: “There was tremendous singing, amazing spirit and a real good effort from everyone who came and supported this cause. Rob’s upbeat attitude to life remains inspirational and rubbed off on all the boys and the hundreds who have donated. Yesterday showed us all that football isn’t ‘just’ a game.

“Our football clubs are central to our lives. They create memories and friendships that last forever – and help even in the toughest of times. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the many MGBSFL clubs/ manager/ players who supported this cause. It is greatly appreciated.

“We look like we’re going to raise over £8,000 which is amazing for the foundation. We will let everyone know when the next event is….but I assure you we won’t be singing again!”

REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE A 6 WOODFORD WANDERERS 2
Redbridge are now sitting neck and neck with Hendon at the top of the table following this emphatic derby win.

Sam Sollosi and Nathan Sollosi both scored twice, with Ben Sollosi and Zack Neiman also finding the back of the net.

James Ryan scored for Woodford, for whom manager Daryl Kay told jewishnews.co.uk: “We lost 6-2, but in fairness that was down to four of their goals coming from three individual errors from our goalkeeper. We also hit the bar twice and even though they had the lionshare of the ball, if those errors don’t happen it’s not as bad at sounds.

“We had 12 men today and within 10 minutes Daniel Wexler pulled his hammy and Andy Levy took his place. We lost Darryl Green at half-time because he had wedding duties and Harrison Midda came off injured at the break too.

“We started the second half with 10 men including the injured Daniel Wexler and eventually long-term injury Adam Poole made a cameo appearance after taking Darryl’s kit, we did what we could, but it wasn’t enough.

“The second half performance was brilliant from the boys (bar our goalkeeper’s error) and we’ll go into the game against SPEC with our heads high ready to get our first win.”

The O’s claimed their second league win of the season thanks to a strong second half performance, having gone into the break trailing 1-0.

Daniel Selwyn, Jacob Richler Kleiman, Marc Hymanson and Dan Ash were all on target, with manager Jason Stein telling jewishnews.co.uk: “I’m really pleased with our spirited victory this morning. Hendon are not a bad team at all. They have a lot of heart and fight and caused us some problems.

“However, we were our own worst enemy first half with too many poor passes and choices. Once we corrected that in the second half we were worthy winners.”

Gid Barth and Matan Ozin scored for Hendon, for whom manager Jonathan Nesbitt told jewishnews.co.uk: “We were 1-0 up at half-time and thinks looked like they were going well. Oakwood were working us hard but the effort and desire from the lads is why we were one-up.

“We then had a horrible 15 minutes in the second half that saw us concede three quick goals…which inevitability saw the boys drop their heads. We managed to pull one back but it was too little too late by then.

“Looks like we can put away the oxygen and breathing apparatus for now as our climb seems to have ended.”

MACCABI LONDON LIONS B 3 SCRABBLE 3
Lions extended their lead at the top of the table to four points – and only earnt their one today after fighting back from being 3-0 down.

Josh Bharier’s double – both from the penalty spot – along with an own goal gave the visitors a seemingly unassailable lead. Manager Ray Abrahams told jewishnews.co.uk: “We are bitterly disappointed not to have taken all three points today as we were the better side. We didn’t think that the Lions’ equaliser was a penalty as our defender Josh Bentley clearly chested the ball away, but the referee had a decision to make and gave the hand ball so we accept that decision.

“Some of our football in the first half was breathtaking to watch and totally unplayable. When you are 3-0 up you expect to win the game but credit to a very good Lions side for their comeback although they must feel that they had a slice of luck with that late decision.

“The lads gave it everything today and I am extremely proud of the way we went about our business and we are delighted to have ended the Lions winning run.

“It was certainly a great game to watch for the neutral as it had just about everything. We had some big performances out there today and we proved that we are now genuine title contenders.

“We have great depth in the squad now and a superb atmosphere in the group who are all playing for each other.”

Charlie Cohen, Joshua Bloom and Michael Kenley sealed Lions’ terrific comeback, with manager Samuel Marchant telling jewishnews.co.uk: “For us to get a point out of the game being 3-0 down with 15 minutes to go is absolutely terrific. The lads showed a lot of guts and passion to come away with something.

“We were far from at the races in the first half, and some perhaps dubious decisions went against us, most noticeably two penalties; one for a challenge by Ed Brafman and from where I was standing, he clearly won the ball. The second was for a handball from Sammy Kingston when the ball to me looked like it hit his hip, whilst his hands were down by his side. A studs up, very late challenge half way up Eli Cohen’s leg causing a gash is also usually a straight red but perhaps my view changed the way everything looked.

“To find ourselves 2-0 down was frustrating, and an own goal compiled on the misery heading into half-time. We knew if we could get the next goal we could get something from the game especially with the game always opening up in the final 20 minutes with tired legs. Scrabble pressed very high and did it well, but that pressure couldn’t possibly stay at that level for 90 minutes. It was a very tough game out there and I’m sure Scrabble are disappointed they couldn’t see it out.”

A hat-trick from player-manager Jeff Gotch helped the Cats salvage a point as they scored two late goals in this eight-goal thriller.

Danny Yeshua fired in the equaliser, with Gotch telling jewishnews.co.uk: “I’m pleased with how we responded and how we finished, but not so pleased with how we performed in the first 70 minutes, but I take a lot of positives out of game.

“It wasn’t our best performance and credit to Fortune, they looked a decent team. But four wins, one draw and one loss is a great start and trust me we will be fighting till the end – I can promise that!”

Jordan Sharafia scored twice For Fortune, with Brett Stead and Rob Jay also on target.

L’EQUIPE 4 RC UK FC 2
L’Equipe moved to the top of the table as they inflicted a second league defeat of the season on the visitors.

Max Martin, James Mandell, Matt Gilbery and Jon Kay scored for Nicholas Stern’s side. He told jewishnews.co.uk: “I couldn’t be prouder with how we fought. Three-nil up, then 3 2 and backs against the ropes, however we scored a fourth and have now won five in a row which I am so, so proud of.”

Avi Markiewicz and Mordy Weiler scored for the visitors, with Markiewicz telling jewishnews.co.uk: “How do we go from last week’s performance to this? We only have ourselves to blame. We have to start playing more consistently and right from the start. Yet again we dominated the game but defensive mistakes and fragility in the air cost us.

“L’Equipe soaked up the pressure and hit us each time on the break. They were 3-0 up at half time, we managed to finally get our act together to take it back to 3-2. For all the world it seemed that the only question was would we score one or two and then we go and pass it straight to one of their attackers who had a simple tap in and put the game to bed.

“Credit to L’Equipe who had a game plan, stuck to it and it worked. We are disappointed but we will go again next week and try and put it behind us.”

NORTH LONDON RAIDERS C 2 MILL HILL DONS 3
The Dons bounced back from their cup defeat by edging this five-goal thriller.

Harry Moss’ penalty, together with strikes from Jono Gaon and Zack Cohen saw them to the win, with manager Brandon Hamme telling jewishnews.co.uk: “It was a great performance from the boys, they passed the ball so much better and defended more as a unit.

“Were starting to really come together as a team and hopefully we can get another result back at our place next week. We opened the scoring for the third week on the trot after a ball from centre-back Adam Ben Harosh found Zach Cohen who acrobatically finished to take it past the keeper for his second goal of the season.

“We went in to half-time 2-1 down, but Mikey Salem came on at centre-back and we looked a lot stronger defensively from that point on. Another great ball from a centre-back, this time Mikey, found Adam Isaacs on the wing who crossed it in to Jono Gaon who finished to score a goal on his debut for the club.

“We conceded a penalty later on for a handball but it was brilliantly saved by Gideon Rabstein in goal, who had a superb game. We soon after received a penalty after Zach Cohen was fouled in the area. Harry Moss stepped up and cooly put it into the net, for his third goal in the last three games.

“Overall a really great performance from the boys, they stuck in and we got the result we deserved. Very proud of them all.”

Alex Elf and Ashley Davidson scored for Raiders, with manager David Domb telling jewishnews.co.uk: “Another one of those days where I’m surprised we ended up on the losing side. Credit to Mill Hill, they never stopped believing they could win the game.

“We played well enough to come away with the points. I’m convinced that once it fully clicks into place, we’ll be climbing the league.”

Real moved six points clear off the bottom as they claimed their second league win of the season.
